Have you ever wondered what is meant by a "sprung floor" and

why Dancers should be dancing on one?

As a Dancer jumps, leaps. twists  and turns, sprung floors offer shock absorption, protecting their joints, muscles, ligaments and bones.

A sprung floor is a surface that can absorb the impact made by the body when a dancer comes into contact with the floor. If you are not dancing on a sprung floor, over time, you are likely to experience lower back and knee issues, stress fractures, ankle sprains, shin splints or tendonitis. This can be detrimental for a child who is still growing.

"Our dancers are just little, what harm can it do?"

Growing bodies with soft bones are more vulnerable to injury than adults or older students.  It is important to reduce the impact on the body to prevent injury no matter what age

Why Dancing On A Sprung Floor Is So Important

Shoes

Proper shoes are manditory!
All Zumba, Hip Hop/Stomp dance classes
require court/aerobic shoes
.  Shoes which
are made for lateral movement are recommended
as they have little to no tread on the bottom.

This helps prevent feet from sticking to the
floor thus, preventing injuries.

DO NOT wear running shoes!
Wearing running shoes can cause injuries
(mainly knee injuries) and they are not made
for lateral movement, as they have too much
tread on the bottom. Anyone who does not bring
proper shoes, will not be able to participate in class.
